Miame Too seal first win for 2023

The 2023 RMYC Winter Series got off to a cold and wet start on Saturday afternoon, when a sizeable fleet set off for the first race of the six race series.

Leaving Marsamxett harbour at 1400hrs, in grey skies, a persistent drizzle and approximately an average of 12 knots, the fleet headed towards Għallis.   Ralph Landwehr’s Grand Soleil 58.3 Miame Too sealed their first win of 2023 on Saturday when they not only were the first to finish but were also first on corrected time.

Anton Calleja’s J99 L’Artista finished in second place whilst Luis Azzopardi and Sara Baldwin’s B&C46 Corona finished in third place.

Race Management duties were undertaken by Nikolai Portelli, Michelle Caruana, Joseph Farrugia and Piero Picone, under the supervision of  Luca Lacitignola.  The Race Management team were able to put into good use the skills they are acquiring through the RMYC led Management Training programme which is being delivered by International Race Officer Ron Barak.

The RMYC Winter Series consists of four coastal and 2 round the cans races, the latter being scored separately.

The next event of the series will be a Coastal Race on Saturday 18th February at 1400hrs and Round the Cans Races at 1030hrs.
